The Land Use and Transportation Committee voted on May 8 to forward to the full Board a resolution authorizing the acceptance and recording of 124 aviation easements from property owners in San Mateo County for the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) noise insulation program.
Committee staff said the easements apply to properties exposed to community-noise-equivalent levels of 65 decibels or greater and that the installation funding for the program was previously approved by the Board in 2020; as presented, the item does not require new appropriations. Airport staff joined remotely to summarize the request and said the Department of Real Estate would execute and file the documents after approval.
There were no in-person public speakers on the item and one remote listener; after brief questions the committee moved the item with a positive recommendation to the full Board. The motion passed unanimously (Aaron Peskin, Dean Preston, Chair Melgar voting aye).
Next steps: Department of Real Estate to execute and record easements and the item to appear on the Board agenda for May 16 unless otherwise stated by committee staff.
