The Land Use and Transportation Committee on Sept. 11 voted to acknowledge the Treasure Island Development Authority’s acceptance of improvements to a portion of Yerba Buena Island’s Hilltop Parks, known as the Rocks Dog Park, and to forward the ordinance to the full Board of Supervisors with a positive recommendation.
Bob Beck of the Treasure Island Development Authority presented the project and wider island updates. He described the Rocks Dog Park as “a little less than half an acre” that overlooks Clipper Cove and the Bay, noted Public Works had issued a notice of completion, and said the title board recommended acceptance at its July meeting. Beck also summarized recent housing and infrastructure milestones on Treasure and Yerba Buena islands, including 229 completed housing units and roughly 745 units under construction, completion of water reservoirs and the ferry terminal, and work on roadway and wastewater facilities.
Chair Myrna Melgar moved to send the acceptance ordinance to the full board with a positive recommendation; the committee recorded three ayes and the motion passed.
The acknowledgment allows the city to accept the park improvements into the public parks system and to integrate adjacent sidewalks into existing right-of-way licenses so the park can open. The Treasure Island Development Authority said additional park and waterfront improvements will return to the Board for acceptance later this year and into next year.
