The Land Use and Transportation Committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on March 11 voted unanimously to forward an ordinance clarifying the ministerial approval process for certain accessory dwelling units (ADUs) to the full Board.
The ordinance would amend the administrative code, building code, business and tax regulations code, and planning code to specify the ministerial approval pathway for qualifying ADUs, affirm a Planning Department determination and adopt findings of consistency with the general plan and planning code sections 101.1 and 302. Planning Department representative Aaron Star attended the committee to represent the item.
Committee clerk John Carroll told the panel that amendments to the ordinance had already been made the previous week. "The amendments we need to be made were made last week," Carroll said. The committee chair, Supervisor Mirna Melgar, asked if there were any further questions; none were offered, and when public comment opened there were no speakers.
Chair Melgar moved to forward the ordinance with a positive recommendation to the full Board. Vice Chair Dean Preston and Member Erin Peskin voted "aye," and the clerk recorded three ayes; the motion passed. The clerk noted that items acted upon by the committee are expected to appear on the Board of Supervisors agenda on March 18 unless otherwise stated.
The committee thanked Planning Department staff and moved on to the next agenda item.
