Committee advances grant acceptances for District Attorney and Office of Cannabis

Two grant items were advanced to the Board with positive recommendations on Sept. 22. Supriya Perry for the District Attorney's Office presented a retroactive resolution to accept and expend $914,170 from the California Department of Insurance for investigation and prosecution of workers' compensation insurance fraud; the committee recorded no public comment and voted to move the item to the full Board.

Separately, Jeremy Schwartz of the Office of Cannabis described a $1 million award from the Board of State and Community Corrections under Proposition 64 to fund public health and safety activities related to adult‑use cannabis through Oct. 31, 2024, including an education campaign and one grant‑funded senior administrative analyst position. The committee advanced the item to the full Board with a positive recommendation.
