The Budget and Finance Committee on Nov. 8 recommended the Board approve a resolution affirming San Francisco's compliance with certain state housing laws so SFMTA can obtain regional funding through the Metropolitan Transportation Commission's (MTC) One Bay Area Grant program.
Joel Ramos (Local Government Affairs Manager, SFMTA) asked for the committee's support to access the funds. Maya Small (planning director, SFMTA) said MTC has allocated about $21 million previously and the next allocation is "about another, almost $22,000,000" that would support transit optimization and pedestrian safety projects, including Embarcadero and 29th Sunset improvements. Small said MTC passed a resolution (referred to in the transcript as "45 0 5") that requests one additional certification by Dec. 31 regarding compliance with state density bonus laws, ADU rules and surplus lands requirements.
With no public comment, the committee voted to forward the resolution to the full Board with a positive recommendation. Vice Chair Rafael Mandelmann and Chair Connie Chan recorded 'aye' votes and the motion passed.
The full Board will consider the compliance affirmation and SFMTA's access to the regional funds.
