Budget committee forwards Port resolution to accept $100.8 million state stimulus grant

The Budget & Appropriations Committee on May 25 moved to forward a resolution that would authorize the Port of San Francisco to accept and expend approximately $100,800,000 in state stimulus funds allocated through the California State Lands Commission.

"We're here this afternoon to seek consideration on an accept and expend resolution for a total amount of $100,800,000 in stimulus funding to support the Port's upcoming biennial budget," Port deputy director Katie Petruccione said, adding the funds require no local match, will support capital and operating expenses, help avoid layoffs over the next two fiscal years and restore COVID-related cuts. Petruccione said the Port had been allocated $114,000,000 by the State Lands Commission in total for stimulus funding.

Public commenter David Pilpel said he had no objection to the Port accept-and-expend resolution and praised Port staff, while also raising concerns about difficulty finding public budget documents online. Chair Ronan moved, and the committee seconded, to forward the resolution to the full Board with a positive recommendation; the clerk recorded 4 ayes with Member Walton excused on the initial forwarding motion.
