The San Francisco Board of Appeals opened its Aug. 17, 2022 meeting with two unanimous procedural decisions. Commissioners approved a continuance and elected a vice president.
On a preliminary matter before item 1, Planning requested a continuance for an appeal concerning 945–947 Minnesota St. to allow staff to review newly submitted plans and assess whether recent work met historic‑preservation and demolition policies. Planning’s Tina Tam described a complex, multi‑year history for the property and asked for additional time to complete its review. DBI’s Matthew Green said DBI had an active notice of violation but could be prepared for a hearing on the proposed date if granted.
After discussion of calendar conflicts and whether the architect and appellant could appear, President Swig moved to continue the matter to Sept. 28; the motion carried 5–0.
Later in the meeting commissioners nominated and then elected Commissioner Jose Lopez as vice president. Lopez accepted the nomination and the board voted 5–0 to appoint him to the office.
Both votes were unanimous and recorded on the meeting record.
