The San Francisco Board of Appeals voted 5–0 on June 7 to continue several related appeals concerning 1863 Pine Street (items 6a–6d) to the July 12 docket so the permit holder and appellants can finalize plans and, the board hopes, reach agreement.
Appellants’ counsel Ryan Patterson told the board the parties have negotiated a written agreement pending completion of the architect’s plans and asked for a short continuance to review the final set. Permit‑holder counsel Ms. Guerra also asked the board to schedule the matter for July 12 to allow the parties to finish their work.
Deputy Zoning Administrator Tina Tam of the Planning Department opposed another continuance, noting the item has already been continued multiple times and that planning was prepared to present its information to the board tonight. Tam said the board needs the department’s evidence "which will help the department in moving this project forward."
Chief Building Inspector Matthew Green told the board DBI planned to recommend revocation of the permit if party‑wall labeling and plan clarity were not settled: "I will recommend revoking this permit" if the plans submitted are not clear, he said.
Vice President Jose Lopez moved to continue the items to July 12 to allow the parties and departments to confer. The motion passed unanimously. Board members said they would schedule the items early on the July 12 agenda if the continuance is granted, so the matter could proceed quickly if the parties have reached agreement.
Next steps: parties are expected to submit clearer, complete plans to DBI and Planning well before the July 12 date; DBI urged early submission so the department can review and avoid a revocation recommendation.
