The San Francisco Board of Appeals voted on Oct. 25 to continue the appeal of the site permit for 1334 Twelfth Avenue to Nov. 1 and to accept the appellant’s late brief into the record. The continuance was approved 4–1 and is intended to give the appellant a legible set of the approved site plans and time to file a brief so parties can try to resolve or clarify disputes before the next hearing.
Appellant John Wong asked the board for time to review recently uploaded permit plans he said he had seen only in small, difficult‑to‑read copies and to compare those plans with earlier sets he believes contained numerous errors. "I would like to continue in order to review these plans, to see whether or not how many changes there are versus the plans I have," Wong said.
The property owner and permit holder, Eric Holland, said full plans exist and that he had made some concessions during the neighborhood Design Review (DR) process, including adding a light well. Planning Department staff confirmed the revised plans that included the light well were part of the Design Review package and were accessible on the department website; DBI said the site‑permit plans were being uploaded by a vendor and should be publicly available within 48 hours.
During deliberations commissioners balanced the appellant’s need to read the approved plans against the permit holder’s long delay in completing the project. Several commissioners said an expedited continuance would reduce the chance of a rehearing request. The board directed the permit holder’s architect (Tim Lawrence) to email the approved site permit plans to Mr. Wong and set the continued hearing for Nov. 1. The motion carried 4–1.
The board’s order allows the appellant to have a clearly legible copy of the approved permit plans and gives both sides an opportunity to file or supplement briefs before the resumed hearing.
