San Francisco — The Planning Commission unanimously approved a discretionary review request Thursday for an addition and roof deck at a historic single‑family house at 110 El Camino del Mar.
Staff said the project is coded as a Category A historic resource and that the proposed roof deck and stair penthouse comply with the planning code and Residential Design Guidelines once the guardrail was revised to be open and the penthouse was reconfigured to sit inside the buildable envelope. The deck is separated from the nearest neighbor by more than 50 feet, and staff said existing vegetation screens most views toward the adjacent spa.
The project architect presented aerials and context photos showing screening and distances to neighboring properties; no community members appeared live in opposition. Commissioner Moore moved to deny discretionary review and approve the project as proposed (i.e., not take the review request), and the motion carried unanimously.
