Commission authorizes 2024 Art on Market Street poster contracts, $12,000 each

Commissioner Farris introduced the Art on Market Street poster-series contract item and reminded the commission this followed earlier consent on artist selection. Staff asked the commission to authorize the Director of Cultural Affairs to enter into contracts with the named artists for amounts not to exceed $12,000 apiece.

A motion to authorize the director to sign the contracts was moved by Commissioner Cheniere and seconded by Commissioner Beltran. There was no public comment on this item, and the motion passed unanimously.

Staff said these agreements follow the selection process previously presented and that contract execution will proceed under existing procurement rules.

The authorization allows the director to execute agreements with Kirti Bassendine, Calixto Robles, and Jesse Hernandez for the 2024 poster series; specific production schedules and installation details will be handled in contract negotiations and subsequent staff reports.
