Board authorizes payments in closed session, approves an expulsion agreement and passes consent items; employment-contract vote recorded

President Bogus read the report out of closed session. The board approved by roll call a stipulated expulsion agreement for one middle-school student ("matter number 2022-2023-Number35") removing the student from district enrollment for the remainder of the spring 2023 semester and the fall 2023 semester; the motion was moved, seconded and recorded as approved with seven affirmative votes.

The board also reported, by vote of seven yeses, that it gave the district authority to pay up to stipulated amounts in at least two OAH matters (one identified as OAH case number 2023040951 involving Student AC v. SFUSD and another involving the University of San Francisco v. San Francisco Board of Education). In two anticipated litigation matters, including MW v. SFUSD, the board recorded that it gave direction to general counsel; the transcript notes a 6-yes, 1-recusal vote in one anticipated-litigation item with Commissioner Fisher recused.

Later in the meeting the board moved and seconded the consent calendar and approved it by roll call (student delegates and each commissioner recorded "Yes" and the clerk recorded "7 ayes").

Staff then read a set of employment agreements for district executive employees (terms mostly commencing 07/01/2023). The board moved, seconded and conducted a roll-call vote in which each named commissioner was recorded as "Yes" in the roll-call sequence; immediately after that roll call the transcript contains a single line reading "7 no's," which conflicts with the earlier roll-call entries. That discrepancy is recorded here for transparency. The transcript also records the board later recessing to closed session with "nothing to report out" and adjourning at 10:32 p.m.
