The Department of Disability and Aging Services (DAS) Commission approved leadership and routine governance items in its meeting.
President Martha Knudson called for approval of previously circulated minutes from the May 3, 2023 meeting; Commissioner Sasha Bittner moved to approve, seconded by Commissioner Linda Parker Pennington, and the commission recorded a unanimous roll-call vote. On nominations, Commissioner Nelson Lum (chair of the nominating committee) presented three recommendations: appoint Stephanie Dignam to the DAS Advisory Council (item 13A); appoint Commissioner Nelson Lum as vice president (13B); and appoint Vice President Janet Spears as president (13C), with the leadership changes set to take effect at the commission’s July meeting to preserve continuity. The three appointment items were acted on separately and each passed a roll-call vote as recorded in the transcript.
The consent agenda included an additional $8,185 for Glide Foundation (congregate meals for adults with disabilities); Glide policy manager Eliana Binger called to thank staff and request an aye vote. The consent calendar motion and all governance items on the agenda were approved by roll-call votes.
What happens next: Appointments take effect at the commission’s July meeting; routine minutes and consent items were finalized on the record.
