OCII adopts findings to continue remote meetings under state of emergency

The Commission on Community Investment and Infrastructure voted Nov. 2 to authorize continuation of remote meetings under a state of emergency, adopting Resolution 38-2021 by a 3–0 roll-call vote with two commissioners absent.

General Counsel Morales told commissioners the resolution renews findings the body made a month earlier and notes that a state of emergency and local health orders recommending social distancing remain in effect. Vice Chair Rosales moved the resolution and Commissioner Scott seconded it. Chair Miguel Bustos announced the result as “3 ayes and 2 absent,” and said the motion carried.

The resolution cites state law allowing legislative bodies to convene via teleconference when specified emergency conditions exist. Commissioners had no public comments on the item and no amendments were offered.

The commission took the vote early in the agenda after Chair Bustos asked that item 5c be considered before consent items. The item will remain in effect for 30 days, after which staff said the commission will be asked to readopt findings if conditions persist.
