OCII honors Mara Rosales and Miguel Bustos, elects Commissioner Brackett as chair

The Commission on Community Investment and Infrastructure on March 21 adopted two commendation resolutions recognizing Mara Rosales and Chair Miguel Bustos for their years of service to the city and to OCII. Both resolutions were approved by roll call (4 ayes, 1 absent).

Director Koslowski introduced Resolution No. 1‑2023 commending Mara Rosales for her leadership on programs including OCII’s small-business enterprise policy, workforce and contracting action plans, and oversight of enforceable obligations tied to Hunters Point, Mission Bay and Transbay project areas. Members of the public, including Oscar James and George Bridges, spoke in support of the resolution and thanked Rosales for her work; Rosales responded with brief remarks of appreciation.

The commission then adopted Resolution No. 7‑2023 honoring Miguel Bustos. The resolution summarized Bustos’s years of service on the redevelopment and successor‑agency commissions, cited his role advancing local hire and small-business participation and highlighted projects such as Chase Center, Transbay and Hunters Point. Staff and community members — including George Bridges and Monica Steen — offered remarks recognizing Bustos’s leadership.

Following those votes, commissioners nominated and elected new leadership. Commissioner Brackett was nominated and elected chair by roll call; Commissioner Ludlam was nominated and elected vice chair. Chair Brackett indicated she would allow Miguel Bustos to continue presiding for the remainder of this meeting to preserve efficiency.

The meeting record shows each resolution was moved and seconded, and each carried with Commissioners Brackett, Ludlam, Scott and Chair Bustos voting aye and Commissioner Tamsen Drew recorded as absent. The commission adjourned at 2:48 p.m.
