Building Inspection Commission approves minutes, continues appeals and adjourns to reconvene at 10:30 a.m.

The Building Inspection Commission approved minutes for prior meetings and took procedural actions to continue abatement appeals while allowing parties more time to exchange records.

An unidentified commissioner moved to adopt minutes for meetings held Oct. 21, 2020 (continued from Aug. 18, 2021) and Nov. 18, 2020; the motion was seconded and adopted unanimously on a roll-call vote.

Earlier in the meeting the commission introduced an appeal concerning Case 68815 (Leonardo Way), where Chief Building Inspector Mauricio Hernandez said the property had multiple violations dating to 2017 and staff recommended upholding the order of abatement and imposing assessed costs. The appellant for that item did not appear; commissioners and the deputy city attorney discussed options and ultimately agreed to keep the item open so the appellant could appear.

The board also moved and voted to continue Case 6884 (214 State Street) to the next hearing and to calendar it on the next board calendar so staff and the appellant could provide all pertinent information. There was no public comment on those continuances.

The meeting adjourned at 9:41 a.m.; the chair announced the commission will reconvene at 10:30 a.m.
