Abatement Appeals Board adopts teleconference findings under AB 361

The Abatement Appeals Board voted unanimously to adopt the findings required under Assembly Bill 361 and California Government Code §54953(e) to permit modified Brown Act teleconferencing. President Tam moved to adopt the findings and Commissioner Beto seconded; the motion carried without opposition.

The board said the action would allow commissioners to attend future hearings remotely when necessary under AB 361’s teleconferencing provisions. The measure is procedural: it does not change any substantive board authority but sets the legal basis for holding meetings with remote participation while the statutory conditions that allow such teleconferencing are met.

Board members did not debate the substance of the findings at length. The resolution was introduced as Item B on the agenda and approved by roll call.

The board proceeded to other agenda items after recording the unanimous vote.
