The Building Inspection Commission unanimously approved the appointment of Paul Staley to the Code Advisory Committee member-at-large seat, with the term set to expire Aug. 10, 2025. Commissioners moved and seconded the nomination after the nominations subcommittee reported it had vetted two qualified applicants and recommended Staley.
Staley, introduced by the nominations subcommittee, described his 45 years in San Francisco and a long career in real estate and finance involving oversight, acquisition and remodeling of single-family homes and other projects. After the vote he stepped to the podium and took the oath of office: “I, Paul Staley, do solemnly swear or affirm that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States,” recited in full during the ceremony.
President Beto thanked Staley for volunteering and commissioners offered personal remarks of appreciation. The motion to appoint carried by roll-call vote with every commissioner voting yes. The commission invited Staley to work with staff and the committee on forthcoming matters related to code guidance and advisory work.
