Building Inspection Commission appoints Ronnie Thomas to Board of Examiners

Interim President Alexander Toot and the Building Inspection Commission unanimously appointed Ronnie Thomas to a registered fire protection engineer seat on the Board of Examiners, to a term expiring Sept. 15, 2025. The vote followed a nomination subcommittee report and a brief discussion of Mr. Thomas’s qualifications.

The nomination subcommittee reported it met in October to review applicants and recommended Thomas, noting his years of experience as a fire protection engineer in California. Commissioner Shattucks praised Thomas’s commitment after an October meeting that required extra effort, saying it “demonstrated to me your commitment and willingness to put in the extra work.”

Commissioner Summer seconded the appointment. The commission conducted a roll call vote; all seated commissioners voted yes and the motion carried unanimously. Thomas then took the oath of office and was welcomed to the board.

The appointment fills an open seat on the 13‑member Board of Examiners. The commission did not record further conditions attached to the appointment. The action concludes the nomination subcommittee’s recommendation and places Thomas in the registered fire protection engineer position through the stated term.
