Building Inspection Commission recommends architect Deepak Patankar for Code Advisory Committee

The Building Inspection Commission unanimously recommended the appointment of Deepak Patankar to the Code Advisory Committee at its June 21 meeting.

Commission records show Patankar applied for a seat designated for a person qualified in historic preservation. The nominations subcommittee met prior to the commission meeting and recommended Patankar; the subcommittee described him as a "practicing architect" with three decades of regional experience and two decades running his own practice.

A motion to recommend Patankar was made and seconded; the commissioners voted by roll call and the motion carried unanimously.

Why it matters: The Code Advisory Committee provides technical advice to DBI on building code matters such as historic preservation issues. Patankar's stated background in preservation architecture was the basis for the nomination and recommendation.
