Building Inspection Commission completes secretary evaluation; votes to update job specs and create director position

The Building Inspection Commission convened a closed session on Aug. 16 to conduct the annual performance evaluation for the BIC secretary. After returning to open session, Deputy City Attorney Peter Milijna summarized the commission's action: the commission completed the performance-evaluation process for BIC secretary Sonia Harris, voted unanimously to initiate updates to the job specifications and salary levels for the secretary position, and concurrently initiated the process to create a new, separate position titled director of commission affairs.

The commission also voted not to disclose closed-session discussions beyond that summary. Roll-call votes on motions to convene and later to not disclose closed-session details were unanimous among the commissioners present.

No further personnel details were released in open session. The commission indicated the actions are procedural steps to begin job-specification and classification work and that further administrative steps will follow through city human resources processes.
