Fire department outlines EASR bond work, training facility design and limited remaining funds

Assistant Deputy Chief Darius Lathrop presented the EASR division's scope and the status of multiple capital bonds, explaining how projects from the 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2020 measures have rolled into current work.

"There's 12,800,000.0 on paper still left in those bonds," Lathrop said, adding that most of that amount is already encumbered by network modernization and generator projects. He estimated a practical remainder "somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 to $6,000,000" for additional work.

Lathrop described the training facility and Station 7 replacement projects as being in a design‑criteria phase and said the department will coordinate with Public Works as projects move into the design and construction phases. He noted some damaged infrastructure (for example a float and EFWS manifolds at Treasure Island) remains under warranty and that coordination with the Port and contractors is ongoing.

Public Works project manager Scott Moran and Captain Roger Ng of Support Services introduced themselves and answered commissioners' questions on coordination and recovery from the March storms. Commissioners thanked the presenters and emphasized the importance of continued coordination between the fire department and Public Works for completing capital projects.
