The Commission on the Environment voted unanimously on Aug. 29 to amend its bylaws to change its meeting schedule and codify remote‑participation rights for commissioners on parental leave.
Staff presented proposed amendments based on a spring survey of commissioners that indicated support for moving full‑commission meetings from Tuesdays to Mondays and adding meetings in late April, June, August and October. The proposed amendments would schedule the commission to meet in late March, May, July and September; early February and early December; and add four additional monthly meetings for the months listed above. The policy and operations standing committees would transition to ad hoc status, with the exception that an operations committee would be convened in early January for budget work.
The amendments also incorporate the administrative‑code guarantee of parental‑leave rights, explicitly permitting commissioners on parental leave to attend remotely.
Commissioner Sullivan moved the resolution and Commissioner Juan seconded. A roll‑call vote recorded unanimous approval (Aye: President Anand/Ahn, Vice President Wan/Hahn, Commissioners Bermejo, Hunter and Sullivan). The amendments take effect for the upcoming meeting schedule outlined by staff.
