Commission OKs Jackson’s limited extensions for three December events

The Entertainment Commission approved an amendment to Jackson’s jam permit to allow extended outdoor amplified sound for three December dates, including SantaCon. The applicant said the late-hour extensions are limited to specific dates and that the venue has worked to address prior complaints.

Senior staff presented Jackson’s application for Dec. 11 (SantaCon), Dec. 18 and Dec. 31, noting the applicant provided a jam-permit application, an amended permit, and proof of neighborhood outreach; staff reported no opposition and recommended approval with the good-neighbor policy. The memo for the file records a midnight end time on each date.

Trista Hewitt of Jackson told commissioners the venue has improved compliance, performed a sound inspection, and maintained active outreach to neighbors within a two-block radius. Hewitt said the venue will increase security for the dates, deploying nine guards initially and up to 12 later in the night, and provided direct contact information to neighbors so complaints can be routed to staff and the venue.

After confirming no public comment, a commissioner moved to approve with the good-neighbor policy. The motion passed; commissioners recorded ayes and staff noted that final permitting paperwork (street-closure/related approvals) would be copied into the record and that the commission’s approval is conditional on completing those steps.

The commission closed the item with next steps for staff and the applicant to confirm documentation.
