Commission approves three additional entertainment permits and adopts teleconference resolution

At the Dec. 20 meeting the commission approved three additional permit applications and took a procedural vote to continue remote meetings.

3251 Scott Street (DBA TBD): Staff described plans for an upscale cocktail lounge using a POE/billiard-parlor permit for live jazz trios and blues; owner Ali Razavi and representative Mark Rennie described neighborhood outreach and forthcoming merchant meetings. Commissioners asked about outreach and parking; the commission voted to approve the permit with staffs Good Neighbor Policy conditions.

Persona (685 Sutter Street): Applicant representatives said Persona is a basement cocktail lounge planning low-key indoor entertainment and occasional DJs for private events. Staff reported robust outreach (about 150 letters) and Central Station approval with no opposition. The commission approved the POE and billiard-parlor permit with staff conditions and restricted outdoor amplified prerecorded sound to 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Teleconference resolution: The commission adopted a resolution making the required findings to allow teleconference meetings under California Government Code section 54953(e), enabling remote participation during the ongoing COVID-19 health emergency.

All permit approvals carried the standard Good Neighbor Policy conditions; staff stressed permittees must maintain outreach, address trash and litter issues and comply with internal sound limits and inspector guidance.
