Proposition Chicken granted FPAS permit to extend outdoor music hours

The San Francisco Entertainment Commission unanimously approved a Fixed Place Amplified Sound (FPAS) permit for Proposition Chicken at 3465 California Street on April 18, allowing the restaurant to play amplified ambient music outdoors from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Deputy Director Azevedo said Proposition Chicken previously held a jam permit limited to six hours of amplified sound between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. and is now seeking to extend amplified outdoor hours to align with its 11 a.m.–9 p.m. business hours. Staff reported the owner conducted outreach to surrounding commercial neighbors and that San Francisco Police Department Richmond Station did not request additional conditions.

Owner Max told the commission the restaurant wants to play soft, ambient music outside for two outdoor tables during operating hours and described the request as an effort to enhance daytime service. Commissioners asked no further questions; a motion to approve the permit passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.

The permit authorizes amplified sound under conditions set by staff and subject to standard enforcement; staff and inspectors said they would monitor compliance and adjust internal limits if necessary.
