In addition to the headline items, the Entertainment Commission took several administrative votes and heard staff enforcement summaries on March 5.
The commission approved the consent calendar (five permit items) and individual permit actions including a POE upgrade for Driftwood (1225 Folsom Street) and an Extended Hours Permit (EHP) for Hinodeo Ramen (219 O'Farrell Street) to serve food and nonalcoholic beverages until 4 a.m. (staff corrected calendar language to indicate late‑night service is for Friday–Sunday early morning hours). Driftwood’s upgrade was supported by neighborhood outreach and a staff‑set internal sound limit. Hinodeo management agreed to security arrangements during late night service as recommended by Central Station.
Staff also reported an inspector‑safety incident at Gestalt (3159 Sixteenth Street): Inspector Sid Zelenak responded to a complaint and reported aggressive behavior from an individual identified as Daniel, who allegedly shouted at and confronted the inspector; staff have notified the permit holder and plan follow‑up and potential agendizing of enforcement actions. Separately, inspection updates noted notices of violation issued to American Bites and the Third Floor for unpermitted entertainment or extended hours, and continued monitoring of Beer Garden given repeated complaint history.
Commissioners moved to approve consent items and individual permits with the staff‑recommended conditions and next steps.
