The Local Agency Formation Commission voted unanimously to appoint Jackie Fielder to a public member seat with a term ending Feb. 22, 2022.
Fielder introduced herself to the commission, described her background (Stanford degrees in public policy and sociology, work on municipal public bank planning and interest in renewable energy and decarbonization), and said she hopes to help link public-banking ideas with the city's clean-energy transition. Commissioners Marr and Singh praised her qualifications; Chair Connie Chan and other commissioners expressed support.
Public callers spoke during the appointment public-comment period. Francisco DeCosta urged broader action on climate and biodiversity and called for more real-time environmental data; Eric Brooks, representing Californians for Energy Choice and Our City, San Francisco, offered a strong endorsement for Fielder. After public comment the commission moved to appoint Fielder. Commissioner Marr moved and Commissioner Singh seconded the motion; roll-call vote recorded Marr, Singh and Chan as aye and the appointment was approved unanimously.
Fielder thanked the commission and said she will begin serving in November.
