Hillary Ronan was elected chair of the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) at the commission’s May 17, 2024 regular meeting, and Commissioner Hope Williams was elected vice chair. Outgoing Chair Connie Chan nominated Ronan and Williams and Commissioner Dean Preston seconded the nominations; the clerk recorded four ayes and the motion passed.
Chan, who said she had served as chair since 2021, thanked staff and counsel and highlighted hiring Executive Officer Jeremy Pollock and negotiating a near-$800,000 memorandum of understanding with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission as milestones during her tenure. Ronan accepted the role and thanked staff and fellow commissioners; she said her willingness to serve was influenced by close working relationships with LAFCO’s executive officer.
There was no public comment on the nominations. The commission moved immediately to routine business after Ronan assumed the chair. The new leadership will preside over upcoming items including a continued work plan discussion scheduled for July and multiple LAFCO studies under an MOU with SFPUC.
