Council accepted the city's set of roughly 50 priority goals and objectives for 2025'2027 and approved the proposed advocacy agenda for the 2025'2026 legislative session.
City Manager Michael Peoples told the council the advocacy agenda was largely consistent with prior drafts and the League of Municipalities positions. He said few substantive changes were made from the retreat materials and that county priorities remain aligned.
A motion to accept the 50 priority issues and a separate motion to approve the advocacy agenda were both moved, seconded and passed unanimously. Councilmembers noted that the goals are organized into categories such as community identity, safety, and good government to aid clarity and implementation.
The council did not propose substantive amendments to the advocacy agenda during the meeting and directed staff to proceed with the adopted agenda for state and federal outreach during the 2025'2026 session.
