Commission approves minutes, continues officer election and calendar items; adopts remote hearings resolution

The Historic Preservation Commission conducted routine business at its Jan. 4 meeting, approving the Dec. 7, 2022 minutes and making several procedural continuances.

A motion to adopt the Dec. 7 minutes passed unanimously, 6–0. The Commission voted to continue the election of officers to the Jan. 18, 2023 meeting; that motion carried 6–0. The Commission also adopted a resolution authorizing continued use of remote hearings when necessary by a unanimous vote, and continued a planning-code amendment item (case number 2022-0118) to Feb. 15, 2023.

These votes were recorded by roll call among the six commissioners present: Commission President Matsuda and Commissioners Black, Foley, Johns, Soh and Wright. The actions were procedural and were taken without substantive public opposition. The meeting then proceeded to informational presentations on the Mills Act program and the African American historic context statement; no final actions on those items were taken at this session.

The Commission adjourned the remote meeting and scheduled an in-person session for Jan. 18 in City Hall.
