Commission agrees to send letter to US Bank on behalf of San Francisco Historical Society

The commission agreed to write to US Bank on a request from the San Francisco Historical Society seeking the return or donation of historical artifacts formerly promised by Union Bank and now in US Bank’s custody.

Commission President Matsuda described earlier conversations in which Union Bank had committed to donate artifacts to the Historical Society but said the materials were "lost in transition" during the bank's organizational changes. She asked the commission to authorize a letter to the CEO and other bank officials expressing support for returning the artifacts.

A motion to send the letter, to be signed by Commission President Matsuda, was made and seconded. The motion carried unanimously 5–0.

The commission did not specify further enforcement action; staff will prepare the letter for the president’s signature.
