SFHSS board approves minutes, blackout notification and membership-rule updates

The San Francisco Health Service System board on Dec. 9 unanimously approved several procedural and administrative items, including the minutes from its Nov. 18 meeting, a blackout-period notification and non-substantive updates to membership rules and the Section 125 cafeteria plan.

Commissioner Scott moved to adopt the Nov. 18 minutes with the modifications noted by the board president; an unnamed participant seconded. After no further discussion and no public commenters on the minutes item, the board voted to approve the minutes unanimously.

On agenda item 7 the board considered a blackout period notification that had been discussed at the Nov. 18 meeting. President Fonsby used the president’s prerogative to call for a vote on the notification “as presented November 18,” and the board again approved the item unanimously.

On agenda item 14, Mitchell Griggs, chief operating officer, presented annual updates to the SFHSS membership rules and the Section 125 cafeteria plan. Griggs described the changes as largely clerical and operational — updates to coverage-period dates, removal of obsolete flex-credit language, and voluntary-benefit appendix updates — and noted a municipal-union life-insurance limit change. Vice President Canning moved to adopt the revisions and the board approved the motion unanimously.
