Health Service Board adopts resolution honoring Commissioner Chris Canning

President Scott opened the April meeting by presenting a board resolution honoring Commissioner Chris Canning for his service from 2019 to 2024 and for his role as vice president of the board. Scott recited the resolution text, which praised Canning’s leadership on the board, his role managing the health service trust fund, and his work advocating for member education and data‑driven benefit decisions.

Commissioner Chris Canning thanked colleagues and staff and described his time on the board as an honor. “It’s with a heavy heart that I sit here,” Canning said, adding that he was “at a loss for words” but grateful for the support he’d received and optimistic about the board’s direction. Supervisor Dorsey and multiple commissioners offered personal tributes, emphasizing Canning’s preparation and collaborative approach in both public and closed sessions.

After public comment procedures were read and no callers were heard, Commissioner [name recorded on the dais] moved to adopt the resolution and the board approved it by unanimous roll call vote. President Scott noted that a related Board of Supervisors resolution had been requested and referred to Supervisor Dorsey for consideration.

The board recorded the adoption of the resolution and presented the certificate to Commissioner Canning. The action was a formal, noncontroversial recognition; no policy or budgetary changes were associated with the resolution.
