The San Francisco Health Commission adopted a resolution recognizing February as Black History Month and reaffirming the department's commitments to racial equity.
The resolution cites the department's prior health-equity actions, DPH programs that serve Black residents (including the Black African American Health Initiative, Rafiki Coalition and Bayview Hunters Point Foundation) and the department's role monitoring implementation of racial-equity plans. Dr. Bennett and other commissioners praised the resolution as a formal recognition of ongoing work to address health disparities.
The commission moved, seconded and adopted the resolution by roll-call vote with all commissioners present voting yes.
The resolution requests continued partnership with Black community organizations and commits the commission to monitor and support DPH efforts to reduce disparities and promote wellness.
