Votes at a glance: council approves multiple ordinances, budget and administrative updates

At its Dec. 19 meeting the Royal Palm Beach Village Council approved multiple routine and substantive items by unanimous votes. Key outcomes include:

- Adoption (second reading) of Ordinance No. 1052 to add "veterinary oncology centers, no overnight stays" to the zoning code (see separate article).

- First reading approval of Ordinance No. 1051 (zoning technical amendment to perimeter landscape setbacks in R V 6 and R T 8 districts) and Ordinance No. 1055 (budgetary amendments to align with current fiscal practice); both were approved on first reading and remain subject to second-reading procedures where applicable.

- Adoption (second reading) of Ordinance No. 1053 consenting to inclusion of the village within Palm Beach County Fire Rescue's Municipal Service Taxing Unit (MSTU) for fire protection and rescue services; council returned the item to correct a prior scrivener's error and then adopted it unanimously.

- Adoption (second reading) of Ordinance No. 1054 updating floodplain-management references and Florida Building Code local amendments.

- Consent approvals included Resolution No. 24-38 (surplus property), special-event permits for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (Commons Park and Bob Marcello Baseball Complex events), and Resolution No. 24-36 (countywide transportation study endorsement); council pulled and discussed the special-event permit and the transportation resolution before approving them.
