Legislature approves amended temporary intern position for data processing

The Montgomery County Legislature amended and then approved Resolution 157 on June 24 to establish a part‑time temporary intern position in the Department of Data Processing. The amended resolve clause specifies the intern will work on a temporary basis beginning on or about 06/30/2025 for approximately 10 weeks at $15.50 per hour, with total compensation not to exceed $4,000.

During the floor discussion, a legislator questioned whether the position had already been posted or advertised; county personnel officer Nicole Yegel explained that the June 30 date is a placeholder tied to the next payroll period and that temporary vacancies must be posted for a minimum of 10 days before hiring. Yegel said she did not believe the vacancy had yet been posted and described the planned recruitment workflow.

The amendment clarifying the resolve clause and transfer line was sponsored and adopted, and the resolution as amended passed by voice vote.
