At its Oct. 31 meeting the Yellowstone County Board of County Commissioners opened bids for several public-works projects, referred them to staff for recommendation and approved routine claims and consent items.
Commissioner Mark Morris announced two bids for a box culvert: a bid listed from Lane Enterprises at about $516,777 and a lower bid from Contact Engineering Solutions at about $426,004.33. Staff confirmed bid bonds were provided. Morris moved to refer the box culvert bids to staff for recommendation back to the board; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board also opened bids for replacement of Bridge 03-03 at the intersection of Danford Road and West 56. Askins Construction submitted a bid of about $1,359,000; COP Construction submitted a bid of about $1,259,100. Commissioners confirmed bid bonds were on file and referred the bids to staff for recommendation.
On routine business the board approved claims numbered 24-056 through 24-059 and moved to approve the consent agenda and place file items to file; both measures passed by voice vote. The meeting record does not include a roll-call tally for these approvals.
During public comments an individual thanked Mike Black for 19 years of service to Yellowstone County’s public works and road departments. Commissioners and staff thanked him and noted he is leaving the county.
The board concluded its business and adjourned. Further procurement decisions will await staff recommendations and any required bid evaluation.
