City manager announces citizens' law-enforcement academy, reports new ownership at Bridal Village; council recognizes Natalie Hahn

City Manager delivered two announcements during the Feb. 20 Saint Joseph City Council meeting: the Joint Citizens Law Enforcement Academy will be held this spring, and Bridal Village is under new ownership and management after a foreclosure sale.

The academy will be hosted jointly by the Saint Joseph Police Department and the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office, meeting weekly on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. beginning April 2 and running through May 28. The city manager said applications must be submitted by March 22 and described the program as an opportunity for citizens to learn about law-enforcement operations and specialized units.

On the housing complex, the city manager said Bridal Village recently went through foreclosure and is now under new ownership and management. He said city officials met with the company now managing the property, were assured the company is committed to improving conditions, and that the new owner is developing a long-term capital improvement plan but had not yet finalized the duration of its ownership or management commitments.

During general business a council member announced that Natalie Hahn, CEO of the Saint Joseph Chamber, is in the audience and will receive the lieutenant governor’s Woman of Achievement award; council members offered congratulations.
