The board's facilities committee presented a multi-item priorities list for summer projects and recommended that staff obtain firm quotes and timetables before seeking board approval.
Committee members identified key projects: repairing drainage and elevation on the high-school softball outfield (water accumulates in left and right field), refurbishing elementary bathrooms (possible grant funding), replacing the cafeteria floor, addressing drainage across campus, replacing baseball bleachers, and reconfiguring CTE and art-room space to support shop expansion and program needs.
"The outfield is the biggest issue. Water sits in right field. Water sits in left field," a facilities member said while describing why an outfield-focused refurbishment would be prioritized over a full-field rebuild. The committee said some interim reseeding has been attempted, but that true refurbishment would require summer work and likely underground tiling in some areas to resolve longstanding standing-water problems.
Committee members said they will seek firm cost estimates and suggested posting projects to the district website to invite local contractors to bid. The board confirmed that larger items will be returned for formal approval once bids and timelines are in hand.
No formal capital appropriation or contract award was approved at this meeting; the committee described workstreams and next steps to bring project scopes and bids back to the board for action.
