The Yellowstone County Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 10 voted to adopt Resolution 23‑99, prohibiting parking on a portion of Iroquois Trail north of the Cheyenne and Iroquois intersection following a Public Works presentation and public testimony. Commissioner Jones moved to approve the resolution; the motion passed.
Public Works told the board it had polled neighboring properties after receiving requests from residents in the Indian Cliff Subdivision. "We sent out 6 ballots. 5 were returned. 1 was opposed and 4 were in favor of the no parking," a Public Works representative said during the hearing.
Two residents spoke in favor of the change. "We are really looking forward to it," said Maureen Wambeke, who lives at 3737 Iroquois Trail, thanking the commissioners for considering the adoption and saying parking across her house and her neighbor’s remains a recurring problem. Resident Jody Janicek, 3725 Iroquois Trail, pressed the board on safety, saying, "Our roads are only 22 feet wide," and noting county regulations typically require wider clearance to support parking; she also said the single opposing property does not access its parcel from Iroquois.
After public comment, Commissioner Jones moved to approve Resolution 23‑99 to adopt a no‑parking area on the specified portion of Iroquois Trail. The motion was seconded (the record does not identify who seconded) and the board voted in favor; the chair noted the board had passed the resolution. Commissioners will sign the necessary paperwork to finalize the action.
The resolution responds to resident safety concerns on a narrow segment of roadway and follows prior county action in 2018 to place no‑parking on Nez Perce within the same subdivision. The county will implement the parking restrictions as specified in the adopted resolution.
