The Yellowstone County Board of County Commissioners voted May 7 to set a public hearing on potential Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications for projects outside city limits.
Tom McLean of Big Sky Economic Development told the board that "the Montana Department of Commerce Community Development Block Grant Program requires the county commissioners to hold a public hearing to obtain public comments related to the county's overall community development, public facilities, economic development to housing needs, including the needs of or projects that benefit lower or moderate income persons residing in Yellowstone County outside the building city limits." McLean said notices will be published in Yellowstone County News, the Billings Gazette and the Laurel Outlook the two Fridays prior to the hearing.
Commissioner Jones moved to set the hearing for Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. in Room 3108; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The hearing will provide formal opportunity for public comment on possible projects and grant applications targeted to benefit lower‑ and moderate‑income residents outside municipal boundaries; county staff will accept and publish notice as McLean described.
