Town to resume annual fee for extra waste carts; ARPA project award for park restroom to be brought next week

Town staff announced administrative changes affecting solid-waste customers and previewed ARPA-funded capital work.

Russell told the council the town had about 300 extra carts purchased under a program and that an oversight last year caused the annual fee not to be charged. He said the town will not retroactively back charge residents for the missed year but will resume charging $300.12 per cart annually going forward and that letters and invoices would be mailed starting the next day. "If they find that they no longer need the extra cart, they can return that back... and then they would not be charged," Russell added.

Russell also said he would bring an item to next week’s meeting proposing ARPA-funded projects and that one scheduled contract award would be for a restroom building at the Southwest Meadows/Sanctuary Park; bids had been opened and staff planned to bring a recommendation for award.

What happens next: residents with extra carts will receive explanatory letters and invoices; staff will present ARPA award recommendations at the next meeting for council consideration.
