The Utah County Commission set a public hearing for Dec. 5, 2023, at 6 p.m. in the commission chambers to discuss the 2024 general fund and other county budgetary funds.
During consent-agenda review, a commissioner noted item 12 (a grant to the Boys & Girls Club) included a spending deadline of June 30, 2024 and asked to extend the deadline to Aug. 31, 2024 because of project delays. Monica Krishlow of the Auditor's Office, grants division, said the auditor's office met with the Boys & Girls Club earlier in the week and that an immediate extension was not necessary. Krishlow said if the club remains unable to secure loans or funding by June 30 the office could consider an extension closer to the deadline, but emphasized the office must preserve time to reallocate funds if required: "The concern becomes if they haven't been able to secure loans and then we have to reallocate before the end of the year," Krishlow said. In the discussion she referenced the need to be able to reallocate "that 3.6" if reallocation becomes necessary; the transcript does not specify units for the "3.6" figure.
Commissioners noted the Boys & Girls Club representatives were present in the gallery during the discussion. The commission recorded agreement on the hearing date and proceeded to other business before recessing into a closed session.
The transcript does not record a formal change to the Boys & Girls Club deadline at this meeting; staff said an extension could be granted later if needed and the auditor's office would manage timing to avoid forced reallocation.
