The Board of County Commissioners approved an agreement on Feb. 21 between Utah County and the Utah County Arts Board to operate the county art gallery and co-sponsor art exhibits for 2024. Staff said the agreement had previously been approved by the tourism tax advisory board and that the terms are similar to prior years.
Jeanne Gom, co-president of the Utah County Arts Board, addressed the commissioners to thank the county for gallery space in the Health and Justice Building and to preview upcoming events. "We have some fun things coming up like the children's art festival in July," Gom said, and she expressed appreciation for the county's continued support.
An unidentified commissioner moved to approve item 25; another unidentified commissioner seconded. Commissioners voted in the affirmative and the presiding speaker declared the motion approved. The board did not record additional conditions tied to the agreement during the meeting.
Why it matters: The agreement formalizes county support for a public gallery and a slate of exhibits in 2024, including outreach programming such as a children's festival that could affect event planning and venue use by local arts organizations.
Next steps: With the agreement approved, the Arts Board and county staff will proceed with planning and scheduling 2024 exhibits and events.
