The Forest Hills Board of Education voted April 15 to approve an employment contract for Benjamin Kirby, who was selected at the board's prior meeting as the district's next superintendent. The contract takes effect July 1, 2024.
Board members moved and seconded the contract approval and then completed a roll-call vote, with members recording affirmative responses. Benjamin Kirby, who attended the meeting, thanked the board and said he was "looking forward to July 1."
The approval followed the board's earlier public introduction of Kirby at the start of the meeting, when the chair welcomed him to the district and noted his move from Lake Orion. No motion amendments or conditions were recorded in the public meeting.
The superintendent contract was one of several personnel and policy items the board handled that evening; it passed by roll call after the board discussed other consent and business items. The board indicated the contract and related materials were finalized with input from legal counsel and board members prior to the vote.
The next procedural step reported at the meeting was the transition process ahead of Kirby's start date; Kirby and board members said they anticipate a working relationship once he begins his duties on July 1.
