Todd, introduced by the board as the fair board representative, reviewed recent and planned capital and maintenance work at the county fairgrounds and outlined the board’s near‑term needs.
He told supervisors the fair added concrete between livestock areas, repaired campground bathroom fixtures, improved Wi‑Fi at the Jackson Building, installed lighting on cattle wash racks and painted arena posts. He said several aging ash trees were removed and replaced, and that building maintenance — including doors and ceiling tiles — remained an ongoing cost.
Todd raised the idea of adding a permanent shade/show area where a temporary tent stood in the prior year and said the fair has been exploring a possible adjacent land option (noting a recently deceased owner whose parcel could be of interest). He emphasized that camper counts and rodeo events generate significant revenue for fair operations and that the group seeks prudent capital investments that support safety and revenue generation.
The board did not take a funding vote at the session but directed staff to include the fair’s requests with other departmental asks during the next budget reconciliation.
The meeting record shows routine follow‑up will include more detailed cost estimates and coordination with county staff on maintenance and any potential land transaction.
