The TDLR Barbering and Cosmetology Advisory Board honored Shelby Stevens on Aug. 19, 2022 by issuing an honorary license in her memory. Mary Winston read the certificate language and noted Shelby’s passion for cosmetology and service to her community: “Therefore, today, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation confers an honorary license in her memory on this day, 08/19/2022.”
Family members attended and spoke. Chastity Summa Sullivan Williams (who identified herself as Shelby’s sister and as “CC”) described Shelby’s dedication to cosmetology and community work and thanked the board for honoring her memory. Wayne Stevens, identified in the meeting as Shelby’s father, also thanked the board for permitting the family to accept the honorary license.
Board members acknowledged the family and expressed appreciation for Shelby’s contributions. The presentation included a moment of silence and an invitation for brief family remarks; staff noted appreciation for Yvonne Lopez’s assistance coordinating the honorary license.
The board then resumed its regular agenda.
