Hamilton Township Council on April 2 introduced the calendar year 2024 municipal budget and set a schedule of public budget workshops to review department budgets and operations.
The council read a resolution to introduce the budget (corrected on the record to resolution 24‑163) and voted to adopt the introduction by roll call, with all members present voting yes. Finance Director Eugenia and Budget Officer John Calderon attended the meeting and will participate in the workshops.
Council members announced the schedule: Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for municipal court, police and finance; Monday, April 8 at 5:30 p.m. for the departments of law, fire, business administration and the mayor’s office; Monday, April 15 at 5:30 p.m. for the departments of water pollution control, health, recreation, senior and veteran services; and Wednesday, April 17 at 5:30 p.m. to conclude with community and economic development, public works, the municipal clerk’s office and the township council. Two additional evenings (April 18 and April 24) were reserved if needed.
Unidentified Speaker 1, the presiding official, described the workshops as an opportunity to take “a closer look” at departmental operations and asked members and staff to participate in the scheduled reviews.
The council said there was no public comment on the budget introduction and moved the resolution forward; the item will advance to the next procedural steps required under state law for formal adoption.
Next steps: the council will hold the advertised workshops on the dates above and reconvene for further budget hearings as required.
