Commission approves consent items: two seized vehicles declared surplus; weed board recognized with $100 award

During its regular meeting the Utah County Commission approved several consent agenda items, including authorization to surplus two vehicles seized by the sheriff's office and acceptance of a $100 award to the county weed board.

Commissioner Richard Nelson introduced item 9 and invited Undersheriff Buffton to explain. The undersheriff said the vehicles were drug seizures, that standard procedures through the attorney's office were followed and that one owner could not be located. "They were drug, drug seizure vehicles," the undersheriff said when describing the origin of the vehicles. The commission moved and approved item 9 by voice vote.

On item 10 Commissioner Nelson noted Jake Johnson, the county weed supervisor, attended a Utah Weed Control Association conference where the county's weed board was named the 2021 outstanding weed board and the county received a $100 award. Commissioner Nelson moved and another commissioner seconded; the commission approved and authorized the acceptance of the $100 for the budget.

Those items were approved as part of the consent agenda and recorded by the clerk. Later in the meeting commissioners discussed and approved a separate $400,000 agreement for the Camp Floyd Museum (covered in a separate article).
